About Dr. Dodson

Dr. Eric Dodson is an experienced Osteopathic Pediatrician at All Ages Pediatrics with a rich educational and professional background. Dr. Dodson began his pediatrics career at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and by 2003, he had achieved his Pediatrics certification and moved to Ottumwa. Over the years, he has served in numerous roles, including Past Chief of Medical Staff at the local hospital, elder at Northgate Alliance Church, and as a member of the local medical society and various boards, including the Bridgeview Board. Dr. Dodson has hospital privileges to admit and personally take care of patients at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He is very experienced in newborn critical care, emergency management, psychiatric care, and preventative care. His commitment to child healthcare was affirmed on the first day of his Pediatrics rotation, an experience that built on his diverse background and solidified his passion for the field.

Dr. Dodson initially pursued degrees in Psychology and Industrial Technology while also working full-time and then as a house supervisor/counselor and mental health technician at a psychiatric hospital with 4 children’s units.. During his time at the hospital, he made significant contributions to the care of adolescents and children. His leadership and organizational skills shone through his involvement in the college student senate and fraternity, notably organizing a major fundraiser for the March of Dimes. Later, Dr. Dodson transitioned to designing cars for Jeep Truck Engineering before following his true calling in medicine, earning a BS in Biology Pre-Med and completing medical school in 2000.

Outside of work, Dr. Dodson enjoys boating on Lake Rathbun, playing video games, bicycling, and fishing. He moved to this town to join a prominent pediatric group and to be closer to his oldest son, becoming an integral part of the community both professionally and personally. His favorite aspect of his profession is the ability to make a positive impact on children’s lives and their families.
