About Daloris Sylvester
Daloris is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who began her career in September 2014. A U.S. Navy Veteran originally from Portland, ME, she graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 2016 as a Registered Nurse. She started her nursing career in the Neuro/Trauma ICU in downtown Des Moines before transitioning to local roles and eventually taking up travel nursing while completing her education. Daloris pursued her master’s degree in Family Practice at Graceland University, graduating in 2021. Her professional experience spans Urgent Care, Emergency Room, and Internal Medicine, with a focus on infectious disease. Currently, she is working towards her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification to better serve pediatric patients. Daloris is excited to bring her diverse experience to the Ottumwa community, working alongside Dr. Dodson and his team.
Healthcare has always been Daloris’s passion, as it allows her to connect with and help those in need, particularly in communities facing poverty. Her favorite aspect of her profession is the unwavering commitment to doing what is best for the patient.
Outside of work, Daloris enjoys spending time with her husband, Dane, her two sons, Chris and Nate, and their dog, Sarabi. She is also passionate about physical fitness, engaging in weightlifting and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu during her free time. These activities help ground her, making her a better healthcare provider, friend, and mother.
